How do I replace a pop-up waste plug or seal?

Over time, rubber seals on pop-up wastes wear or perish, causing leaks or preventing full closure. If you are experiencing water draining slowly from the basin, the plug not sealing properly or a blackened or cracked rubber washer, the following steps can help to resolve the issue:

  1. Unscrew or lift out the pop-up waste plug.
  2. Remove the old rubber washer and clean the threads.
  3. Fit the new seal and reassemble the plug.
  4. Adjust the height to ensure the waste closes fully.
  5. Test for leaks before final tightening.

Tip:

Replace seals every few years to prevent water escaping through the plug seal.

Avoid extreme temperatures as excessive hot or cold water can make the rubber seals brittle
