Do you need a slotted or unslotted basin waste?

Basins are supplied in many styles and designs. One key feature is whether the basin has a built-in overflow.

You may see the overflow hole in the image of the basin, or you can find details on the specific product page on our website, which will state if it has an overflow or not.

The overflow needs somewhere to drain. If your basin has an overflow, it is necessary to install a slotted basin waste. This has a gap built in to allow the water from an overflow to drain away. 

Basins without an overflow would require an unslotted waste as the gap isn’t required.
