Supplier Quality Engineer

Brief summary of duties

Support Head of Quality & Sustainability to lead the development, implementation and management of processes which ensure Suppliers are approved and continuously developed to meet the on-going requirements of the Bathroom Brands Group

Support the development and Management of the Supplier Assessment Processes

Support the development of processes surrounding Product Quality and Pre-Delivery Inspections on sourced products and material

Key areas of responsibility

To develop and manage Suppliers and Product Quality compliance to the requirements of the Bathroom Brands Group.

There are no Geographic boundaries to this role.

1.Proactively support the business needs in respect to Supplier/Product Quality conformance to established and developing specifications, standards and guidelines.

2.Support/Develop the Supplier Assessment & Approvals process, ensuring it is continually developed and remains appropriate as the controlling process which approves BB Group Suppliers. Secure that BB Group Suppliers are capable of complying with BB Group’s Quality, Environmental, Sustainability, H&S and CSR requirements.

3.Work proactively with Suppliers to develop a culture of Continuous Improvement in processes and product which assures the quality of supplier materials and products.

4.Develop & Coordinate the Non-Conforming Product process by initiating and interacting with Suppliers to investigate the root cause of Product Failure. Implementing the necessary corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Support continued development of the NCP process.

5.Investigation of Product Failure Trends based on feedback from Commercial and Customer Service forums from all areas of the Business.

6.Participate when required with the Purchasing team in Supplier Performance Reviews.

7.Establish close working relationships with Product Development/Management to develop and communicate (internally & externally) the appropriate levels of product acceptance criteria and to participate in Design FMEA’S.

8.Support the process of Pre-Delivery Inspections on NPI and Resourcing activities.

9.Support the Purchasing & Product Management Teams to develop proposals which Value Engineers product without compromising customer requirements and standards. Proactively interact with Suppliers and Buyersto reduce cost of product and process

Key Skills

  • Technical / Engineering Qualification: Degree / HNC or equivalent
  • 5 – 6 years’ experience from a similar position
  • Lead Auditor qualification or minimum 5 years Supplier Assessment experience
  • Appropriate Commodity experience / knowledge
  • Significant knowledge about material and manufacturing processes

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Competence to professionally represent all the geographic locations of the Bathroom Brands Group both inside the business and with outside sources of Supply.
  • Highly Intuitive and ability to work independently.
  • High flexibility in all aspects with a willingness to travel both nationally and internationally.
  • Confident, clear and concise communicator at all levels.
  • High level of understanding of appropriate material standards, regulations, and legislation.
  • Potentially over 100 travel days annually (nationally and internationally)
  • Extensive mobility is a key part of the role. Must also have a valid driving license and passport.
